Scientific Director (Medical Communications) - Surrey

Business Type: Medical Communications Agency
Job Type: Medical Writing and Editorial, Medical Communication
Job Level: Experienced (non manager)
Position: Full Time
Location: Surrey
Reference: sci-dir-med-comms
Job Details:

One of my clients, a very well-established medical communications agency specialising in medical education agency in Surrey, is on the lookout for a Scientific Director to join them on a permanent basis.

This medical education agency have a stellar reputation in the market, having also won awards for their most recent work with their biggest pharmaceutical client. They cover a variety of disease areas, but have tended to focus more on immunology, gastroenterology, neurology, rare diseases and endocrinology more recently. Patient care is at the heart of everything they do, and have made their name in the industry by delivering innovative and clinically relevant programmes.

They are looking for someone to be the strategic and scientific lead for the team and you will have a great deal of autonomy with how you wish to shape the role.

Here is a brief outline of what you should expect in the Scientific Director role:
  • Responsible for leading a team of experienced medical education professionals and writers.
  • Provide training and coaching where required - ability to effectively delegate to your team and to guide reports in developing their skills, through mentoring and reviewing output to add value and ensure scientific accuracy.
  • Be responsible for leading important pitches and being an industry ambassador at networking events.
  • Resource management.
  • Prepare to combine in-depth scientific understanding of the therapy areas at hand with key commercial awareness in order to provide high level strategic and tactical communication planning for clients
As the Scientific Director, you will be providing strategic direction to the writing team, and they are giving you the opportunity to be as hands on in the role as you would like to be. They have a team of established medical education writers who can take on most of the project work if you would prefer to take on a pure leadership role instead.

They are prepared to offer some flexibility surrounding homeworking, but will expect you to be in the office at least 2/3 days per week. Most of their clients are UK-based so travel will be very minimal!

They are looking to move very quickly, so if this Scientific Director role sounds like something you would be interested in or would like some more details on, then please send an email to Dani Valentine at d.valentine@x4lifesciences.co.uk or call 0207 812 7700.
