About this role 

This is a brand new position that is focused on achieving training excellence for new Medical Writer recruits into Fishawack Health.  Your role will be concentrated on the development, management and delivery of a comprehensive foundation-level Medical Writer training program, and also mentoring of new medical writers. In return, Fishawack will offer you excellent job benefits, on-going career opportunities and a supportive & flexible working environment.

What you''ll do

  • Work with the Scientific Services Training Director, Editorial Directors and Head of Scientific Services to: 
    • Assess training needs for new Medical Writers joining the team on an ongoing basis 
    • Develop regular bespoke and evolving training programs to meet the needs of new Medical Writers 
    • Maintain, manage and update programs on a regular basis 
    • Monitor the success of the programs and adapt accordingly 
  • Develop and deliver targeted and engaging content in live sessions 
  • Select and engage with internal and external training partners as required 
  • Ensure on-demand learning is available for all topics included in the program, and input into on-demand courses 
  • Develop accompanying training exercises and run these with the trainees, providing guidance and feedback 
  • Provide one-to-one/small group training sessions where an urgent or specific need is identified 
  • Support internal and external training promotion (e.g. attending career and networking events)
  • Mentor new Medical Writer recruits to help them reach their full potential 
  • Support the onboarding of new writers to the Scientific Services team 
  • Provide senior support, on-the-job training and mentoring on one of the designated training accounts 
  • Review live work to ensure that it is of high standard and meets the brief 
  • Give appropriate and extensive feedback to new writers 

About you 

  • Bachelor’s degree in the life sciences; post-graduate experience preferred
  • Ideally five years+ experience in a Medical Communications agency writing team, with a strong training element 
  • Accomplished Medical Writer 
  • Enthusiasm for life-long learning 
  • Excellent communicator with strong relationship building and presentation skills 
  • Adept at listening, questioning, explaining, and giving feedback 
  • Excellent organisational skills, with experience of managing multiple projects and priorities 
  • Experience in using workplace technology 
  • Ability to think creatively 
  • Adaptability skills
