We’re looking for experienced medical writers to be based at our Real Science and Publicis Resolute offices in London. We have several exciting roles for talented individuals who wish to develop their careers in medical writing. The successful candidates will have the opportunity to work with, and learn from, senior members of the team, on a range of projects across the full spectrum of medical communications activities. These include insight-driven education, advocacy development, congress activities and digital applications.Close links with our sister agencies (including those specializing in advertising and digital communications) provide avenues for cross-functional working and afford our team with exposure to different ways of thinking to enhance our medical communications offerings. Our main therapy areas are currently oncology, dermatology, HIV, CNS disorders, medical devices and respiratory disease but new business wins will provide an opportunity to work in other areas.

To be successful in your application, you will need to have a solid scientific background, a clear and concise writing style, an enthusiasm for learning and a keen eye for detail. In this role, you will be an integral member of the account teams, responsible for producing scientific content and guidance of the highest quality, communicating with clients, and supporting our account handlers and management team with the wider business needs.

  • Has the ability to write commercially focused materials (e.g. story flows/strategic frameworks, objection handlers and competitor intelligence reports)
  • Is able to adapt writing style to suit difference audiences (e.g. primary and secondary care physicians, nurses,pharmacists or patients)
  • Is adept at finding visually compelling ways to present complex information
Interpersonal/Leadership Skills
  • Plays a pivotal role within the scientific team, always leading by example and demonstrating knowledge of good practice/industry guidelines
  • Demonstrates strong organisational, analytical, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Is a team player, recognising where s/he can use his/her skills to support colleagues, adapting to meet changing needs and taking ownership for delivering results
Account Services/Budgeting /Strategic Input
  • Able to build strong relationships with new clients
  • Adheres to project parameters including deadlines, budget, and content limitations
  • Participates in meetings and strategic discussions with clients, authors, and advisors
  • Provides a proactive, solution-focused approach towards defining client brief and expectations, resolving queries and addressing feedback
  • Acts as primary point of contact for medical and content queries for clients on projects and escalates queries in more challenging scenarios
  • Participates in the tracking of project deliverables, identifying impact of out-of-scope changes
  • Initiates discussions with account teams regarding potential barriers to successful project completion that may arise
  • Confident going on-site across a variety of events, leading interactions with clients and faculty regarding content development and finalisation

  • You should already have a bachelor’s degree in the life sciences(2:1 or above) and possibly also a Master’s degree or a PhD.
  • You will have demonstrated a passion and aptitude for clear and concise writing across a range of communication styles.
  • Experience in medical education, marketing/strategic planning,or journal publishing is preferred
