Axiom is seeking a Medical Editor (Life Sciences) with a passion for outstanding quality and editorial excellence.

You will be joining our US team based out of Yardley, PA, in a unique and exciting position as the first Axiom US Editor based out of the UK. You will form part of our global Editorial team, with colleagues based in the US and UK, and will have the opportunity to be a part of our cross-continental community, sharing expertise and providing a supportive network across the business.

We specialise in scientific training with a focus on microlearning, eLearning, film, infographics, virtual training, and live experiences for pharmaceutical clients. You will be working in a highly collaborative environment with expert talent.

This role will involve a diverse range of work, ensuring the highest editorial and medical standards are met through copy editing, proof reading, and fact checking all of our deliverables. You will work closely with fellow members of the Editorial team, and in partnership with our Scientific, Client Services, Creative, and Digital teams.

Responsibilities and expectations of the role

  • Provide editorial support to the Axiom US teams
    • Copy editing: ensure linguistic accuracy, consistency, and clarity, with a specific focus on grammar, punctuation, and style
    • Proof reading: check work across different outputs, contexts, and formats to ensure consistency and accuracy
    • Medical accuracy checks: Review produced materials for medical accuracy and integrity in conjunction with the medical writing team
    • Fact checking: ensuring that all in-text citations and references are accurate and work collaboratively with medical writers to provide appropriate references where needed
  •         Work collaboratively with the Scientific, Creative,         and Client Services team

    • As the first Editor for our US team based out of the UK, demonstrate proactivity, flexibility and excellent communication, with the ability to build a true cross-continental partnership
    • Understand the importance of clear briefs and scope of work from colleagues, learning which questions to ask and when to follow up to ensure your work is aligned with expectations
    • Demonstrate flexibility and understanding when dealing with changing timelines; support the team with a proactive attitude
    • Collaborate with creative and medical writing teams to provide input and ensure accuracy of medical illustrations and figures
    • Partner with Editorial colleagues across the US and UK; contribute to the supportive and process-driven relationship as one global Editorial service, including tasks for wider teams across The Creative Engagement Group where appropriate

  • Time/project management
    • You will be working UK hours, therefore understanding of, and proactivity around, time differences will be critical to the success of this role
    • Manage tasks across multiple accounts, products and therapy areas, while maintaining consistency and attention to detail
    • Work with your manager and Editorial team members to monitor your capacity, plan around multiple delivery requirements, manage conflicting deadlines, and proactively respond to workload

 What we offer

  • Comprehensive onboarding and training with an encouraging and enthusiastic team
  • Exciting range of creative healthcare project types
  • Benefits package

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline
  • Previous copy editing experience with a medical or scientific focus; minimum 2 years preferred
  • Familiarity with AMA style
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and organisational skills, plus an excellent knowledge of English spelling (US and UK) and grammar; experience working with US and UK content preferred
  • Outstanding attention to detail, ability to follow a style guide and spot errors, inconsistencies and inaccuracies
  • Ability to manage multiple projects while having the flexibility to change priorities quickly
  • High level of self-motivation, ability to work with tight timelines and under pressure
  • Ability to thrive both independently and in a team environment
  • A positive and collaborative team player, able to work with colleagues across the US and UK, where required
