JOB ROLE:
The Director, Scientific Services (DSS) responsible for the performance, training, review, work flow and growth of the Scientific Services (SS) department, with ultimate responsibility for the scientific rigor and strategic quality of the medical education group''s work. The DSS will contribute significantly to organic business development including new business presentations, RFIs and RFPs for the medical education.
Building and consolidating key client and opinion leader relationships will be central to this role. The DSS will assist in defining the vision and growth for the medical education group, refining efficient processes and procedures, and maintaining and increasing the fiscal health of the division. As a senior manager the DSS may also be called upon to functionally manage other groups or personnel as appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:
A proven background in science and/or medicine, preferably in an area compatible to one or more key therapeutic areas.
A postgraduate degree is preferred.
Very solid experience in the application of scientific/medical expertise in the marketing environment and a proven understanding of CME accreditation procedures, journal publishing and all current and emerging academic and clinical communication vehicles.
A proven manager and motivator with a good track record of client relationship and business development.
Must have a clear understanding of the roles and responsibilities of other departments in the medical education arena and the relevance of medical education in the overall marketing mix for Pharmaceutical products.
Must be prepared to attend off-hours and events, and travel extensively as required.
