Background: One of the UK’s largest independent medical communications agencies with offices in the UK and US is looking for a Deputy Editorial and Scientific Director to work from their London office. The agency has an extremely exciting client and product portfolio and it is currently working with four of the top six pharmaceutical companies (some on a preferred supplier basis)for whom is has contracts on 5 pre-launch blockbuster products due to be launched within the next couple of years. Very few agencies can offer such an exciting portfolio of work!!
The role will be responsible for the operational and line management of the editorial team, leading editorial development and coordinating implementation of client communication programmes with a focus on key messages, content and overall quality of all materials. You will also be responsible for the development and training of the assigned editorial team, identifying training needs and coordinating development programmes.
Together with the Client Services Directors you will contribute proactively to new business development for existing and new clients. This will include assisting in the development of proposals and playing an active role in the preparation and delivery of pitches and presentations.
Due to the nature of the role ideal candidates will be educated to PhD level in life or physical sciences, have at least 4 years previous editorial experience in a medical communications environment working with leading pharmaceutical groups, including experience of line managing writers.
