Background: Our client is a global communications agency. They have an opportunity for an Account Manager to join their Medical Education team in their London offices.
The team comprises of over 35 healthcare communications professionals. The Medical Education team comprises specialised account handlers, medical writers and an events manager and handles a variety of physician-targeted projects on behalf of global pharmaceutical companies.
As a result of continued success, they are looking for an additional Account Manager to work with other team members on projects such as the organisation of satellite symposia, advisory board meetings, and the management of publications plans.
For certain projects, the Account Manager would have the overall responsibility for project management, charged with ensuring that all elements of the project were completed to a high standard, on time, within compliance regulations, and on budget, and keeping client contacts and other team members up to date on project status.
Responsibilities:
- Attaining and maintaining an in-depth knowledge of therapeutic areas and products of relevance to client accounts
- Developing and editing documents such as speaker briefs, meeting materials, meeting reports, training materials, case studies, and website copy; managing design and production of materials required in hard copy
- Identifying and gathering information on opinion leaders working in clinical practice or research who have expertise and experience of interest to clients
- Assisting with publications planning and management by checking accuracy of scientific publications such as posters and manuscripts, routing publications through the client''s approval process, researching congresses and journals, and formulating rational proposals for additional publications
- Attaining and maintaining familiarity with guidelines and regulations (both general [e.g. ABPI] and client-specific) regarding interactions between pharmaceutical companies and physicians
- Maintaining excellent relationships with client contacts and identifying and pursuing opportunities for growth of existing accounts
- Managing multiple projects to deadlines and keeping tracking documents up to date
- Developing proposals for future projects and presenting them to current clients and new business prospects
- Managing own time and delegating to other team members as appropriate
- Acting as a role model for junior staff and supporting them with their development
- Developing and managing project budgets, including invoicing, budget tracking, and fee forecasting, in line with the financial processes
- Logging time spent per project
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- A biological science degree is essential
- Candidates must have experience working in client service and project management at a communications agency
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Available for occasional international travel
